Mike, Curious about the front ramp. When I read your post I suspected a cut barrel but the rear sight dovetail looks right for a short rifle. I looked at mine (trust me it doesn't look like this one) and the front ramp is shorter than the ones on the full length 64's. Mine is the style that is part ...

As stated before, the 1911 debate is an unending subject. I think you can get yourself a good serviceable 1911 for 500-700 dollars but you are always taking somewhat of a chance because all guns are individuals. I have been fortunate as I've always bought used but have been able to shoot them first....

I've always liked the 64 but mostly because my Grandfather carried one while a warden in the late 30's and 40's. Having started with straight-grips they just feel better. That is why I like the rifle on the left the best. It was a 94 rifle originally made in 1899. It was returned to the factory some...

I agree with C Cash about the bore diameter in relation to pressure. The slower twist rate may help too but I'm not sure. All I know for sure is if you look in a Lyman manual that lists pressure for each load and compare the same charge of IMR3031 between 30-30 and 32WS the 32 is considerably lower.
