Good commercial deer load for Ruger Blackhawk in .41 Mag?
Can anyone give me some pointers?
Re: Good commercial deer load for Ruger Blackhawk in .41 Mag?
You might give the Winchester Platinum Tip load a shot !
Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !

I thought I might know this one but I've never used anything but handloads in mine. I'd think that any from the big three would do well if accurate in your gun.

In the Marlin 1894's chambered for the 41 MAG I have used handloaded Nosler 210's and Hornady 210 XTP's with decent results .
In the Smith 657 I no longer have I used the same Nosler loads and they did well enough .
I earlier this week purchased a Ruger Blackhawk 6.5" 41 MAG that is still NIB and I have yet to fire .

I have only shot this load for fun and to get brass for my gun, but the Remington 210's have a good reputation for game getters in a factory load.
Re: Good commercial deer load for Ruger Blackhawk in .41 Mag?
I would avoid using hollow points in 41 mag as they may be a bit to explosive and might not penetrate to vitals. I like the PMC 210 soft nose, they are the most accurate 41 mag factory ammo I've shot but it has been at least 10 years since I shot any factory ammo through my 41 with the exception of Winchester Silvertips. The PMC's grouped better than the Winny or Remmy factory ammo. I like Federal brand ammo also but just haven't used it in my 41. On the other hand I might have just been having a good day, the day I shot the PMC's.
I have successfully used my 41 on Javalina using Winchester Silvertips. Shot clean through him with a huge exit wound at about 35 yards. The Silvertip's 175 gr bullet might be a bit light for deer sized game.
Call me ol'fashion, If I were going to hunt deer with my 41 using factory ammo I'd likely choose a 210 soft nose and avoid the expanding yuppie designer bullets or HP's made to bring a man sized animals down. I feel penetration and the bullet's weight retention is more important than expansion when hunting large game with a handgun.

I got some factory 240gr Winchester Platinum tips with my Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter and they worked great on my old deer I got this year. I got complete penetration and in accuracy tests, they outperformed my handloads.

I have to be a John Kerry and flip-flop on this and agree with jengel. First time I have been aware that anybody made a 240 gr load for 41. I thought 210 was max. Shows you how long it has been since I shopped for factory ammo.
