I say I don't know, but I bet you meant to post this in the general section and not the classifieds....

A light film of RemOil works well for me.

Doug Turnbull is a chemist and recommends Rem-Oil which I use quite a bit but......my first choice...after Yak sperm........is..........EZOX......for extreme uses in limited guns in cold weather or anything AR, M1-A, Garand, or BAR........or semi auto handguns of which I own very few----6

I use One Shot, M-Pro 7, Slip 2000 and RIG. Also have Bore Butter and Frog Lube. And let's not forget 3 in 1 Oil. So the question is which one or ones remain?
Re: Best gun lube for the Model 92?
For storage RIG for sure. For general lubricant on a working gun, whatever gun oil I have handy.
Re: Best gun lube for the Model 92?
I've got moly paste in my 94 right now.. but usually it's rem oil for me.

Re: Best gun lube for the Model 92?
3 in 1 gums up after a while. Been using Remoil for quite a few years now. It seems to evaporate and leave nothing, but I never have corrosion or lubrication issues. I like it. Never tried the other products you mentioned.Old Savage wrote:I use One Shot, M-Pro 7, Slip 2000 and RIG. Also have Bore Butter and Frog Lube. And let's not forget 3 in 1 Oil. Re: Best gun lube for the Model 92?
We have no issues with rust here in the desert and the range is the worst mine have to endure but I have at least 3 guns over the 5,000 rd mark and at least half a dozen others that average over 1,000 rds. between them so they do see some use that could mount up to wear.
Re: Best gun lube for the Model 92?
Agreed on the Slip 2000 (and anything in their product line). Everyone should avail themselves of the free sample offer on their website. Amazing stuff.

I use a touch of grease on those points that rotate, and a drop of RemOil on those that slide... In both cases I wipe off ANY excess. Both oil and grease are huge dirt magnets... a combination that is deadly to steel.

This stuff is a great protector.

3-1 oil turns to a hard yellow wax after a few years.
(Flame Suit on) I love WD-40....(Don't bother, I've heard all the bad stuff about it, and I don't agree with any of it. Been using it since the 60s with zero problems.)

Re: Best gun lube for the Model 92?
in the SE Alaska rainforest I used waterproof wheel bearing grease for the sliding parts and vaseline for corrosion protection under the wood and inside the crawl spaces.
and wd-40 to flush the barrel and clear condensation when the gun comes inside the boat for the night
worked for all those many years
but you know, it isn't trendy, no one recommends it in gun magazines or on the internet, and the worst thing is, IT'S CHEAP ! Eeeuuuw

Ballistol here. Diluted 10:1 for cleaning, (black powder) and straight for lube. Original 92s get this treatment along with Colt SAAs.

I've been using Balistol but I've heard good things about frog lube. They say it smells minty fresh. My wife doesn't object to Balistol so I might just stay with it.

I use Ballistol and Rem-Oil as well as Break-Free with CLP. They have all given good service, as did Eezox when I had some.

Re: Best gun lube for the Model 92?
I like RemDriLube myself. I'm not sure if it's going to save the world, but I like the concept of a dry Teflon lubricant being operable in a wide range of climates and not gumming up with dust and dirt, etc.
... I love poetry, long walks on the beach, and poking dead things with a stick.
Re: Best gun lube for the Model 92?
I clean with ballistol, lube with G96 grease ( viable to -70) and coat the outside with WD-40 specialist its a silicone base and has kept my truck and tractor guns rust free winter and summer there was a product test WD-40 Specialist went 3 weeks on steel on the beach by salt water before it showed rust signs. danny
There was a product test for lube and rust protection if I can find it I will post it.

I still use what worked for Dad and Grandpa.
A couple times a year I'll come across the old stuff from the 50's, 60's & 70's visiting flea markets.
The smell of the #9 is more than worth it
