I'm sure Mossberg's marketing people did the necessary research before investing in the tooling.......must have hired the same people who did the marketing for the Smith 53 Jet, Ruger Hawkeye, 94 in 7-30 Waters, that stupid looking "Judge" revolver or for that matter....back in the day.....the 40-60 Winchester cartridge in the 1876 Winchester. ------6

Re: well ain't this just Goofy!
I could see getting one if you lived in a "can't own semiautomatics" state, but if I were to 'tacticalize' a levergun (and I actually have, sort of), I'd only do two things to the gun:
http://www.levergunscommunity.com/viewt ... 40#p583183
- a) I would (and have) add a 'rail' for attaching a flashlight, or make a mount that would clip on to the magazine tube,
b) I would (but have not) make a folding stock, IF I wanted the gun to be more compact than a 16" trapper.

Robo-Lever! Looks like that stock would be painful to do a cheek-weld on.
Have you hugged your rifle today?

I almost always agree with Doc, but in this case, let the Model A Uzi make the case....in the case of "making things easier." Just in case you need firepower...quickly----6

Clearly the Jet was a response to the rampant Chupacabra problem here in the states. I am dismayed to find it in your list.Sixgun wrote:... for the Smith 53 Jet ...

Yea I hear ya. About 20 years ago I bought a NIB specimen and everything that was said in print came true for me. Sticky case.....not always but enough to aggravate me......yea, I degreased the cyl. and the ammo. Velocities were several hundred fps lower than advertised.....with top loads......the .22 RF inserts gave 3" groups at 25. Sold it to Ron Applegates nephew.----6

Re: well ain't this just Goofy!
Yeah, I think it's an example of what happens when the Marketing department has too much input. If they had stuck to a fairly straight wall with a short neck I think they'd have been fine. But they had to have that long futuristic looking slope to the whole case ... almost aerodynamic looking. I think the key is to find one with 1960's era poorly machined (rough) chambers. Those are probably the ones that don't suffer from case setback.Sixgun wrote:RFMCJ,Rimfire McNutjob wrote:Clearly the Jet was a response to the rampant Chupacabra problem here in the states. I'm not even going to get into the .222 vs. .224 issue. You've really got to love the odd ones to love the Jet.
Good to see you're still lurking around even though you've cooled a bit on the gun front. I'm just too busy with work and other hobbies to spend any time on shooting stuff these days. I've probably not been out shooting in 8 years. Sad really. I'll catch up one day.

Thank you Griff

Looks like a levergun crossed itself with some cheap AR platform into a new butt ugly invasive specie of a 30-30.

0 bids. Can't say that I am surprised. I am not sure that I would have one even if someone paid me to take it. That thing is as ugly as an infantry soldier's feet.
