Hi everyone,
My father was thinking about getting one of these and wanted to know what kind of pressures/loads they can take. Any ideas on this?

Some of the newly mfg'd examples are coming thru chambered for the .357 Magnum & .44 Magnum, implying they must be using stronger metallurgy, tho If I owned one in either of those calibers I wouldn't feed it a "steady" diet of the full-house loads, just like people were advised not to do it with a S&W Model 19 .357 Magnum revolver. I own a .45 Colt '73 & I don't try to turn mine into a .44 Magnum. I run standard pressure equivalent handloads, (14,000psi). You'd be surprised what a .45 caliber 250 grain slug can do running at 1100 or 1200FPS out of a rifle. Hell, when they were using black powder some guys even killed Grizzly bears with the Colt SAA & the 40GR BP load. They were gettin over 900FPS out of a 7-1/2" barrel. jd45

Standard 14,000 psi loads with a 250`ish bullet will take care of any deer at reasonable distances if that is what he plans to do with it.
My Uberti 73 .45 Colt just gets feed Cowboy loads because that is what I have it for.

+1, however, I've run some factory loads thru it and keep some Winchester 225gr Silvertips around, just in case!Chuck 100 yd wrote:Standard 14,000 psi loads with a 250`ish bullet will take care of any deer at reasonable distances if that is what he plans to do with it.
