Anyone have an idea of this manufacturer
Honest, neighbor was edging his driveway and found this.
Bore looks to be .22, frame is steel ( see the rust ). The scale is very heavy, appears to have a magazine, take down lever, a small piece of rubber grip panel.
Does it look familiar to anyone as the who made it?

My 1st thought was "cap gun" but they usually have metal grips. Jason may be right.
The closet I found was this, but I think it is a 4-barrel, as are several others of similar shape

That'll buff right out!

When I was a kid I had a .22 Blank pistol that looked something like that. It had holes along the top of the slide and fired straight up. The slide moved to bring the next blank into firing position.

Re: Anyone have an idea of this manufacturer
I believe that this is correct. Nobody else had that elongated trigger on such a gun. I remember that these could be ordered out of the back of men's magazines.
But that does not account for the rust.
Re: Anyone have an idea of this manufacturer
I have one of the old tear gas pistols like that but it has a zinc frame, that wouldn't rust.

I do believe Jason hit it on the head! The front of the slide/frame has the same square hole as the picture he posted.
When I first saw the rubber grip my mind said Colt but the shape just wasn't right.
Now if it could only talk, we are curious as to how it got to where it was found...

If I recall correctly, it was a starter pistol.
