Expensive Brass
Tubby The Tuba Rides again....
I got this like new one for what it would have cost to recondition the one I got in 1974. That old one was really thrashed and trashed. Back in '74 it cost me over 3 E-5 paychecks.

Re: Expensive Brass
Yep Blaine, those large calibers can be very expensive! Very nice! I see you load it with your own muzzle too.
Re: Expensive Brass
That's a beauty. I know what you mean about reconditioning, it's almost not worth it anymore.

Probably takes as much time as a Harley to clean and polish huh?
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Lovely Blaine. Who made it? I save some old instruments but have only had rebuilt my 1911 Conn large bore cornet. It has all the slides to change it over to C. Been in our family since new.

Re: Expensive Brass
Cool on a side note ( ) my boy graduated HS on Fri, and was awarded the John Philips Sousa award, the highest award given by the band director for most outstanding musician after 8 years in the band
Re: Expensive Brass
Very Good! Those Sousa awards are not given away lightly. I'm sure he put in untold hours of study/practice.

Re: Expensive Brass
Thanks Beaker and Blaine for your kind comments. I thought a "Tuba" post might be appropriate place to mention a Sousa award. My boy qualified for regional concert and symphonic bands six different years on four different instruments: alto, tenor, and bari saxophones and bass guitar. An honor student, he has been accepted to the UT system for the fall semester
