Hmmmmm? Maybe that's how they make the truncated cone shaped bullets.

Re: There's No Reason To Do This
Hmmm. Makes me think of some cast bullets I have that are slightly undersize. Using the "Jim T method" I could "swell" some bullets a few thousandths larger...
Thanks Jim...

I like the shape of that bullet. Good info, thanks.

Re: There's No Reason To Do This
This opens up a good, easy method of forming bullets. Besides changing nose shape and swelling OD, I could make a hollow pointing punch and smack some cavities in the noses of some boolits...

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Jim comes up with all kinds of tricks....that were needed before these loading companies came out with $100 tools that do the same thing. Jim gets an "A+" in common sense, something young people today fail miserably.
Re: There's No Reason To Do This
That's what I like about this place and reloaders in general. People like to tinker and experiment. If you ask someone about adjusting shotgun loads they act like if you vary away from published data you'll go sterile and you children will go bald.
Thank you Brother Jim.

Re: There's No Reason To Do This
Sadly with Berry's there is a reason to do it.
Years back when I started shooing IDPA/USPSA I shot lots of Berry's. I had an extremely reliable pistol that fed everything. Even with that I still had the occasional unexplainable malfunction. (thats the problem with that kind of shooting, there's no chance to stop and visually diagnose the issue) After maybe two seasons of suffering I found it was undersized Berry's hitting the feed ramp, pushing back into the case and causing the jam.
Not an unknown problem... heck Berry's sells "double struck" bullets to try and eliminate the problem, but it didn't. I swore them off for good and all my malfunction went away. Shot that gun for several more seasons without a bobble.
