Looking for advice on Montana driving, please?

Post by Canuck Bob »

My wife is attending a soccer tournament in Kalispell, Mt. Which route is best from Calgary. The options are travel due south to the Carway border crossing, hiway US 89, and travel by the Glacier Park or travel west to Fernie BC and cross at Roosville, hiway US 93, and past Whitefish. Anyone got an opinion?

Check your routes on the interweb if you're on a schedule. This early in the year, some could still possibly be closed.

Bob,
We went down last June. Went south via Roosville, a very pretty drive. Came back via Browning, where I received a 42 dollar speeding ticket...... First non photo radar speeding ticket since 1991. Go very slow through Browning! Came north through Coutes kinda flat not very pretty drive.

Shopping is great in Kallispel! It rained all weekend but we had a great time. Great Mexican chain restaurant near Target and IHOP I forget it's name.

Thanks guys, great pictures!!! I'm used to moose but those buffalo are huge!!!!

We decided on the Fernie Route through Rooseville. She knows the Canadian side real well and folks say the cell coverage is better. There are a large bunch of Canadians travelling both routes so help is available and she left early to drive in daylight. Its a bit chilly here so I'm staying near the phone. Westerners know high passes can be trouble anytime.

Samb, don't mention the s word with our dollar in the toilet :D
