Frustration Level High!

Post by Griff »

Rush, rush, rush... then whammo... wait, wait, wait.

Stuck in WI until Friday as the "job site" isn't ready for the stuff I have in the wagon. So I'm sitting in a truck stop about 30 miles south of Cottage Grove, WI! The good thing is that the restaurant is open 24/7! A nice collection of Winchester 94 Commemoratives on the walls! Ok, that lasted all of a 10 minute tour... Now it's out in the truck to watch TV!

Boring! Hoping to get home by next weekend, as the storms that hit the DFW area early this week flattened much of our cowboy action range. Work party to start rebuilding on the 9th & 10th. Guess I'll contribute some lumber and my paltry carpenter skills... was a "framer' in a prior life... so walls, floors and roofs are no problem! And that's about all our "town" is!

It must not have been much out by my place... as my wife would'a been on the phone immediately if her p/u got hit as the Camaro is still in the garage waiting on a new engine... she's told me several times that she wants HER garage back!!! :P

Been there done that. I feel for you brother! I hauled a load of frozen corn outta Idaho destined for Lodi, CA. I called ahead to make sure someone would be there as I might not arrive until 6:00 or 6;30 PM on Friday, "we'll wait for you". I got there at 5:10 PM and the gates were locked and the guard told me the plant was closed until Monday morning. I spent 3 nights in the truckstop in Lodi, only had $6.00 in my pocket. Most miserable weekend of my life...

Oh, this ain't my first rodeo... and I doubt it'll be my LAST! I learned a long time ago to keep either food, or plenty of cash on hand... since I've ate my cookin', I prefer cash!

Reads like you are a wise and prudent man. Wish I had learned as much from previous bad or uncomfortable situations. My old age would sure be different than it is now!

You guys that haul freight have my sympathy. I now deliver water treatment equipment to power plants and a few refineries and chemical plants. I don't miss dealing with the idiots in the warehouses at all. No matter when you get there you are always too early or too late, and you have to wait.
