Received my B92

Post by brionic »

LNIB, but without the box  that's OK, saved $200 and I'm going to shoot it anyway so who cares about the cardboard and styrofoam. I'd say it's 99.7%, with just a few tiny marks on the loading gate, the face of the hammer, and maybe a rub across the top if the hammer, but that may have been done by me when I cycled it. 1982 gun, serial 7900-ish. How many were made in .357 :?:

Wood is clean and classy, like office furniture, as someone else pointed out. Much nicer finished than any of my Marlins, although the Marlins function more smoothly. To be fair, the Marlins are not stock guns - except for the fifty year-old.

The action feels a bit stiff yet, but nothing that several hundred or a thousand rounds won't fix. If it is still rough after that, then a vacation down to TX might be in order :D

Question - is the firing pin designed to "jiggle" in the '92? When the hammer is at full cock, the firing pin slides in and out of the bolt if the rifle is lowered or raised.

Other than these issues, I am well pleased. Can't wait to shoot it. Pix to follow!

Yes on the firing pin.

Congrats on the gun!

One of my favorite guns. Had a light action job done by Dale Storey's shop many years ago, along with a Lyman 66 installed. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Thanks guys!

Casastahle, you're right, it does look like they've been turned. It could be the oil or flash; I'll have to check. The camera sees more than the eye, eh?

What sight are you having installed? Who is doing the work?

Marbles tang sight, Marbles folding leaf and a possible blade change on the
rear sight if needed (gunsmith's discretion). :)

OOOOOOYA :D
Picked mine up this afternoon.
That Marbles tang sight looks great on her.
It is now in a state of disassembly for stock
refinnishing.
Going with a hand rubbed oil finish. :D

Sounds good. No pics yet?
I'm going to start with what I have, which is mostly 158s.
Keep me posted on the tang sight!

Just these that were posted on G. A. by the seller.
I will get better ones when it's back together.
Brian does yours have the plumb colored loading gate?
Mine does, and not so sure I like the look.

No, mine seems to be pretty black. I'll have to get a look at it out in the sunshine.

Funny how "plum" is desirable among some guns but reviled on others.

Picture of my .44 mag. It has just a faint hint of purple on the gate. First time I shot it the gate broke and I had to replace it. Original winchester had a two piece gate. The browning gate is one piece.

Nice, Bill! How does it shoot? My Marlin .44 is a pleasure to shoot, but it's got a rubber butt pad.
