Those rigs with tents on top are popular in southwestern Africa. They keep you up off the ground away from some of the smaller critters and it forces the cobras and mambas to work a little harder to bite you in the face ...

From the size, I am guessing those campers were in Namibia near or in Etosha National Park, which has the biggest elephants in the world. They are humbling creatures.

Thanks for the demo, 1886. I had less than memorable results my first time out with a new Ruger BH .41 Magnum. I look forward to the next load tests with different primers -- CCI 350s as a matter of fact.

Red: The turnoff is just a few miles north of Stinnett, and you wind back down south to the Canadian, emerging through cottonwoods and sunflowers to the small plain where the stores were built. Gives me chills just thinking about the clash of cultures and the brave men on both sides.

If any of you are ever in the Panhandle, you really should make the drive to the Adobe Walls site on the Turkey Track Ranch. Billy Dixon lies there, and he was an honorable man. I felt a real sense of "big medicine" there. My great-grandfather's ranch just a few miles up the Canadian.

Took two Ruger sixguns along with some long guns to the range today, a BH in .45 Colt with 4 5/8 barrel and the new .41 BH with 6 1/2. Accurate load for Savage 99 in .250-3000?
I have a nice old 99 with the 1:14 twist barrel, and am having a hard time getting under 2 inches at 100 yards with handloads and bullets of 100 grains or less. Anyone else shooting this rifle with this twist getting better accuracy? Bore and crown are perfect.

I think he is right about asking the EPA to back off on the ethanol requirement. Feed prices are killing livestock producers and hammering the consumer.

Ben: I use IMR 3031 under my .379 220-grain softpoints, but load only to about 1900. A friend uses the same bullet and gets to 2300 using RE7 in an H&R Target Classic single, but it may well be stronger than an older lever gun.
