Re: Help needed with 1894 re-assembly......
Well....You guys nailed it! It was that darn lever pivot pin that was hanging me up. I had the chance to get back into it today, and I swear that I had that thing together and apart more than a few times. It took taking a few thousandths off the overall length of the pin, and radiusing both ends of ...

Re: Help needed with 1894 re-assembly......
I have had the same thing happen, and it was the lever pivot pin that was the problem. I had pushed it too far in from the left side of the receiver. Once you have the pin in place, install and tighten the screw that retains it into the side of the receiver. Then take an appropriate size pin punch ...

Help needed with 1894 re-assembly......
Well....It's been a while since I had a Model 1894 apart. I have an early model that I was tasked with doing a deep cleaning on after many years of storage. The action worked before disassembly, but was heavily fouled in old grease and gunk. Now, after cleaning and reassembly, the action becomes loc...

Uberti 1873 movie gun...rifling gone?
I acquired a rifle a while back that has raised a question. It is an early Uberti 1873 Winchester clone .44-40 with a 24" octagon barrel. The action looks to have very little actual use, but the rifling in the barrel is gone. The story is that it was a gun used in a movie as a prop gun. I first...

Looking for Model '92 buttstock
I just acquired an 1892 Winchester that someone has done a bit of shade tree "gunsmithing" work on. It's in pretty poor shape as it stands, but I think I'd like to try and bring it back to a shooter if I can. The first thing I need to find a used buttstock for it. Not looking for anything ...

Yep....Good advice all around. I shoot a 240 grn lead RNFP over 6.0 Unique as a general plinking / SASS load that duplicates the .45 Colt fairly closely. For carry, I bump it up a notch to Skeeter's favorite load of a 250 grn Keith slug over 7.5 Unique. The .44 special has become my favorite revolve...

I like my .44 leverguns just fine for an "out-the-door" rifle. I tend to carry a Colt SAA, Ruger flattop, or a Smith 696 in .44 special for a sidearm when I'm not packin' a 1911. Having my Winchester '94 Trapper in .44 mag allows me to use all the same ammunition as well as having a few tr...

I've got one of their six-shot .22 cal revolvers. It is a beauty and it does shoot well. It is really heavy though because it is a full size SAA. That's a lot of metal left in a gun with only .22 cal holes bored out of it! It is a nice piece though and has the mag. cylinder also.
