ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT PACO

Post by JimT »

Paco is going to be 85 tomorrow .. Monday September 18. As many as care to, please post a birthday wish or blessing ... leave a comment for him ... and I will have his daughter show them to him.

I have been friends with Paco for ... going on 40 years I believe it is ... a long time. We have been through thick and thin together, shared joy and sorrow. And we have both experienced Blessings from the Lord far beyond either one of us has deserved. It is my privilege to know him and be his friend. I count it a real honor.

Happy Birthday my dear friend. May the blessing of the Lord be yours today.

A few photos from over the years.

Happy Birthday Paco!
You have absolutely made me a better rifleman, experimenter, loader, caster and shot. The knowledge I’ve gained from your writings and this board are irreplaceable. The high moral standards you inculcated early on have been kept alive here and at home.
Thank you.
I sure am glad you were born.
Definitely a day to celebrate.
Think I’ll go make some 32wcf smoke today in your honor.
Kind regards,
Tycer

Paco stepped up and sponsored me into the Shootists and I’ll never forget that. Sitting in a room with him and telling old police stories is a memory that I treasure.

Paco is among the last of the old breed, where a man’s word was as good as a written contract……..unseen today but for a few….Paco and his contemporaries put the meaning in the word, “bad as.s” and if they told you they were gonna break face, they were gonna do it, and most likely, without warning, as it should be…... I saw the end of that generation as a lifelong Teamster and by the time I retired, me and only a few others were able to remember what it was like to be a man….

Society and “the system” has cut the nuts off of man, at least to the ones who let it happen, and the weak take advantage of that for their own selfish needs instead of gaining balls the old fashioned way which Paco and his kind have done..

Paco….You and I don’t know each other but you made multitudes of personal inventions and freely gave away your hard earned knowledge to a younger group which has opened up the world of common sense and freed the mind to pursue personal intuition. People today rely on the Internet. Yea, what a f.king joke.

Wish you well brother and thank you for teaching me how to open up a mould. Be proud of your accomplishments of which many here have learned from due to your publications of your countless experiments which you unselfishly published for the next generation to learn from.

Wish we could go burn a little powder and make thunder in the hills to celebrate!

Seems like the handgun is being purposely allowed to rise back and to the side. Notice exact form in each photo.
Seems a technique to me ,kinda like in Archery where you use a wrist sling allowing bow to drop forward after shot.

An accuracy technique

Not really. It's the effect of launching a 340 gr. cast bullet at 1400 fps in a light short barreled revolver. You couldn't hold it down if you wanted to. I've seen quite a few that tried holding them out in front of themselves and ended up with either a big knot on their forehead or else a bloody head or both.

The recoil is fast enough that there is a photo around similar to the 1988 photo .. I think it was taken at the same time .. and wrist band on his wrist watch is standing out almost 1/2" from his arm.

Paco and I experimented with the 454 in the early days, trying to see just how fast we could get cast bullets going. I had some loads with the 300 gr. bullet that would do right at 1800 fps from 7 1/2" barrel. I would not even attempt that at my age now.

This is the recoil of the heavy Buffalo Bore .45 Colt load fired from a custom Vaquero by Gary Reeder. 4" barrel. I was resting it on the carpet, holding it with two hands. At the shot it went right up .. quickly. And no ... I don't shoot loads like that anymore.
