I'm an old Alliant Unique guy and have also been using IMR TrailBoss, neither of which I can find at the moment.
My son-in-law found IMR SR4756 somewhere and passed along a pound of it to me. (Thought I read somewhere IMR was going to discontinue this and other powders?) Anyway, anyone load .45Colt, .45ACP or .38Spl with the 4756? Anything special to be aware of? 8gns Unique pushing 250gn LRNFP is my usual .45 Colt go-to load for the Rossi lever action and New Model Ruger Vaquero.
Thanks in advance,
IMR SR4756 .45Colt? .45ACP? .38Spl?

I think it was 4759 that was dropped.
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

Hodgdon's website has it listed under 45 Colt loads, not Ruger-type.

SR-4756 is great for standard revolver loads. Look at the can again though, you will find it is 8 oz, not a pound. 4756 is quite bulky. Leaves very little residue too.
4756, 4759 and PB are all on the list to be discontinued.

I have used IMR SR4756 powder and like it for it's clean burning, leaving little residue in gun.
I recall, quite some time ago, this powder was discussed here and the negative aspect of it was--I believe--it has a sudden pressure spike and therefore you can get into serious pressure trouble easier than with other powders.
Someone correct me if this is wrong or expand on this.
