.

They all look to have the same footgear, except fella #2 (from the left) - maybe he's the guide.

There looks to be a couple of Savage 1899/99's in there.

From the size of the cartridges in the belt loops on a couple of them, I'd WAG they're totin' .44-40's or .45's.

Back then, not many folks were comfortable in front of some infernal device - OR, they were just P.O.'d at stopping their card game, just to take a pic. ;) .

Pistol guy in the middle of the crowd, looks like a S&W by the frame. Hard to tell, can't zoom in.

Young fella on the left looks to have an 1886 Winchester. I think it has the dual locking lugs at the rear of the receiver. Other guys all appear to have Savage 1899s.

From the left: 2nd, 4th & 7th guys are wearing "Sam Brownes", so I figure some sorta police officers, pistols appear to be DAs. Also, 2nd & 6th guys don't have long guns in hand (that I can see).

Picture is just a tad too "grainy" to make out many details.

I wonder if the reason they aren't smiling is that it may have been considered undignified at that time in history to be photographed smiling?

Figure the 2nd guy from the right is the camp cook? He does not have hunting gear on.

Folks didn't smile much for publication as half of 'em had bad teeth, those with good teeth did not want to rub it in.

'86 Win or possibly a '92 on the left, appears the third dude from the left is holding a Savage, the next guy some kind of bolt as it appears to have an exposed breach. Fifth guy, I believe has a Winchester, next guy is the cook, and the last I can not make it out but definitely a S&W in the holster along with the fourth and second guy. Those three also have government issued belts.

There's a guy over on photo bucket that goes by hhclark that has a bunch of vintage deer hunting photo's. The rifle of the first guy in this photo looks a tad small for an 86 Winchester to me. Maybe a 92.

Plowboy,

Can't you just hear those hounds coursing through the woods? Is that a coyote (well half of it shows) laying in the foreground?
