Post by azzhandler »

I have my eye on a 25-20 wcf , I have always liked smaller calibers, my questions are would this round be over kill on squirrels ? I would like to still beable to eat them :D and is there any troubles with reloading?

I just picked up a 92 in 25-20 I've had several others 94 marlins and a 23 savage used a 60 grain hornady over 5 grains of universal clays for about 1600, did'nt tear them up any more than a minimag hollow point in long rifle. You might want to check your game laws, legal here in WV I don't believe so in Ohio.

Don't know about the squirrels but reloading is cheap and easy as any other cartridge.

Any cartridge can be loaded for squirrels if loaded properly. Heck I shoot small game with my 45-70 gallery loads. Tom.

I do live in ohio so I better check, but dont remember ever seeing anything saying we can not use centerfire rds, dont believe Ill use my 45-70s to squirrel hunt with, although might make skinning easier  depending on what I find at the gunshow tomorrow, I just may pick up the 25-20, thanks guys and if I should get the rifle, I will hit you all up for your favorite recipes :D

I think I have a file with maybe 100 loads for the 25-20 if you need it.
