Tool question

Post by Charles »

I am looking to replace the saw blade on my old Craftsman 7 inch hand saw. I can find plenty of 7 1/4 inch blades, but no 7 inchers. What gives?

In most cases the 7.25" inch blades will work fine on the 7" saws. From the arbor center to the tip of the blade we are only talking about 0.125". Mount a 7.25" blade on your saw and spin it by hand to check clearances.

Look at the Freud and CMT blades. I have had very good results with both brands.

I happen to be partial to CMT tools.

That's a light duty saw. Run the 6 1/2 inch blades made for the battery trim saws. They are very thin compared to the 7 1/4s and will put less strain on the Craftsman. You can get crosscut and trim types.
Kind regards,
