OT? Has a lever
Found a Mossberg SSi in 308, NIB for $300, is this a decent rifle. Seemed heavy for a single shot. Anybody Have experienc with one of these.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

I never owned one, but I did handle some when they first came out. I always thought they were good looking single shots. For $300 I don't see how you could go wrong.

How about a picture for those of us not familiar with that rifle?

Here's a link to the advertising brochure for them, http://www.armusa.com/MossbergShotGuns6.htm
They look a bit like a Ruger #1 with regard to size and style but have a break action like a shotgun. If you wanted an inexpensive single shot I would think they would be worth a try, I might even have to see if I can get one here in Oz.

Re: OT? Has a lever
A close friend owned one when they were first available. It is a decent and accurate gun. He had a shotgun barrel for it also. I liked the gun just fine, I only shot maybe 10-20 rounds through it over a couple of range days.
CDNN has a 12 gauge 3.5", 26"bbl SSI with a 4x32 Simmons shotgun scope for $199.
You might want to see how diffcult it is to find rifle barrels for sale.
