Post by Bill in Oregon »

Fella who is a commercial reloader in Dallas just got a bunch of their primers in. I am waiting to hear his report.

I wish they would send some LRM primers to the Western side of Arkansas. I have read a few good reviews about them and nothing negative.

I've got them in SP and LP but haven't used any yet. Nice to see a new US maker in the game. You can get their SP, LP, and LR online from Republic Ammunition ... even in quantities of 100 or 500, plus the usual 1K, 2K, 5K.

Looking forward to seeing a report on these.

We need more competition to bring the prices down.

It's news to me, I didn't know anyone had started up primer manufacture. Thanks for sharing.

BINGO! the web site shows a box of 1000 is US $110.00 + shipping and hazmat.

My SWAG (Scientific Wild Arsed Guesstimation) -- the days of US $.02-.03 primers are long gone. Reading -- when you can find the components -- has become an expensive hobby.

Around here, the cheapest I have seen large rifle primers is between $85.00 - 90.00 per thousand.

I am actually surprised that more companies haven't jumped into the game. After all, when something is short, with demand far exceeding supply, there is an economic opportunity...

YK: i think the cost of setting up an operation is just too costly. Then factor in permits, the anti-firearms sentiment and the NIMBY effect -- not in my backyard, etc.

FWIW, I just received 1,000 Cheddite 209 shotgun primers (made in France) plus a pound of Alliant 20/28 powder from Ballistic Products on a special -- $5 hazmat and $10 shipping. The 209s were $60.
I know, not the same as large rifle primers. But now I can fool with putting up some 28s on the MEC 600 after a long layoff from shotshell reloading.

Bill I have found that Remington hulls and Winchester wads don't play well together in 28ga. Cheddite hulls are very good straight wall hulls !

Will, I'll be using Winchester AA hulls and the Claybuster 5034-28HS wad with 13 grains of 20/28.
