made 62 and retired

Post by JOHNNY WACKO »

Most that know my story know I got hurt 17 years back and been in pain and could not do my back hoe work since 2004. failed 3 times on SSI so set and waited since 2011 to turn 62. Well I made it in April and they can't say no now. First check June first. No more scratching a buck here and there to make it and feed my gun monkey too. Fixing peoples guns for penny's on the dollar and here them crying when they pay. There on there own now.I mite start buying up there broken guns and fixing them to resell .just to keep busy.Or not I'm RETIRED :D :D :D

Feels good, doesn't it? I'm now counting down the months to 65 and Medicare. The health insurance for me, my wife and our college-age son is $2300 per month!

Second, Bill, your wrong. $2300 a month is for your family and about 50 others who are on Obamacare. ----6

Congrats & I'm looking forward to my own retirement in just short of a year.

Like many others, I'm sick and tired of the corporate mismanagement and will welcome getting out from under same. It is amazing how things can deteriorate in just a year.

I'm considering looking for a 1 or 2 day a week job in a local gun shop to keep my hobby funded.

Congratulations! That idea of buying the broken guns and fixing them for yourself then selling for a profit sounds good.
Glad you could make it to retirement.

Congratulations and welcome to the club! I too got turned down for early SSI, even with a 90% disability in my right hand! I retired at 60 and collected my personal retirement until 62 when I finally started my SSI. Guess SSI figured I could do anything with one hand that I used to do with two!

Glad ya made it! :) I hope you enjoy every nanosecond.....

I've got another decade left - I don't see how I can pull the
plug before 67 or so. Whether my big mouth will allow
me to stay employed that long remains to be seen....
Full Social Security benefits are at age 70 for me, but there's no
way I'm gonna make it for that long.

Congratulations, on making it to 62. I will be 60 in August, and I think I will definitely retire when I turn 62 if I can make it even that long. I will still have my cattle and the farm to take care of and keep me busy, but fixing fence doesn't pay all that well. The company I work for has been good to me, and have almost 30 in but the pace and the pressure and deadlines are really starting to wear on me.

I would like to work part time at a lower pressure job, after retirement but I don't know what that might be. I might have to create my own part time work, somehow. But there is no way, I can stick it out to draw full retirement at what I am doing now.

:D Congrats. I retired five years ago. It's nice to get up in the morning. And go do what you WANT to do rather than HAVE to
do. :D

Congrats on your retirement. I worked 30 years for the same company. At the end of June I will have then been retired for 30 years.
It is still great to wake up every morning to another 7 day weekend.
