Shotgun Powder Woes

Post by 6pt-sika »

My shotgun powder woes have been eliminated !

Still have about 6 or 7 pounds of SR7625 for the 10 gauge .

Have several pounds of W296/H110 for the 410 .

And now I have 24 pounds of Universal Clays for the 12, 16 , 20 and 28 !

Might pick up 8 of Unique and 8 of Green Dot in the next month or so just for the heck of it !

Where do you think you will find Unique? I'm almost out & can't find it any place. If you know where, pls let me know.

I live in a small town in Nevada and have been a long time customer of Graf & Sons by mail. As far as I know, they have not had Unique for a year or more. I'm happy to hear Greentop has it. At least then I know it's still available some place and still in production.

The problem is if you store it, I cannot buy it and it remains in short supply.

It is the same with 22s. They hit the market and folks buy five times what they need in a lifetime.

This does little to encourage the new comers to the sport.

And if you have Universal Clays available -- well it is really really close to being Unique but it meters nicer. And around these parts it has been more readily available.

If they still sold SR7625 I wouldn't have bought all that Universal Clays . I was using SR7625 for the 10 thru 28 gauge . Hogdon is supposedly making something called Winchester 572 that's supposed to be a replacement for SR7625 although a ball powder instead of a flake powder . Anyway I already have a couple pounds of that on back order with one of our distributors .

That's the way it goes ! Dunno about the 22's as I can always get what I want from Bruno's . But then again I just buy the more expensive imported 22 target rounds .
