Will this ever be made again? Does anyone have the recipe? Was my favorite lube.

Apache Blue Lube was our own Paco Kelly's idea and product. I don't know if it is still being made, as I have a fair supply. If you can contact Paco you may find out more. Good Luck, great stuff. ATB....

If you can't come up with any Apache Blue you might try some of Veral Smith's

With the exception of blackpowder or shooting over 2200, I never saw the need for anything better than beeswax/alox. Nothing personal, but Paco's Apache Blue is/was not cheap. Just my .01 :D -----Sixgun

I can make my own lube (about 16 sticks) for about a 10 spot.

At work they use Chevron blue grease for putting on our 5th wheels when they do a PM. I always wondered if that Chevron grease and bee's wax wouldn't make a good mix.

'Ya know something Rusty, you might have figured out something as maybe thats where the Apache Blue formula comes from. :D

I ofen wonder about all of these "wonder lubes" just being a get rich scheme. Well, maybe not a "get rich scheme", but a "get a bunch of bucks in a hurry scheme" :D

We all know that 100% of lubes come from easily available sources--its the formula thats the secret.---------------------Sixgun

LBT is Apache. Seems like on the old forum in 2004? I read here that Paco and Veral had formed some sort of agreement. I like the soft blue, it is more like the Apache I had. I gotta tell ya, the black coating that lube leaves in the barrel is the cat's meow.
Kind regards,
Tycer

OK, I think I must be wrong. I found a page in a notebook that lists LBT Blue and Apache Blue as being produced at the same time. I'm so confused.

I do have a bit more than a gallon of Alox 2138f and mixing it with beeswax works great, but I can't stand the smell. I don't know what it is, but Alox 2138f absolutely makes me want to retch.
Kind regards,
Tycer

Allright sixgun, so just what's the formula? For the beeswax/alox combo I mean. And does the alox you mentioned refer to Lee's Liquid Alox? If not, what the hell are you referring to? Inquiring minds want to know! jd45

You want me to tell 'ya?/ Can you keep a secret? So can I! :D :D

Alox is some kind of a lube and that whats they call it. Its the old tried and true NRA formula which is 50% Beeswax and 50% Alox. I keep it simple and mix 55% white lithium lube and 45% beeswax. (by weight) This formula stays soft even in winter and won't run in summer and like I said earlier, costs me about $10 for a couple of years worth of lube  :D -----------------Sixgun

I used Sixguns lube. It is a good soft lube. The smell makes me wonder if I'm lubing bullets or packing wheel bearings.

From what I have read on alox is it's primary use was for undercoating on vehicles. They have a variety of formulations but some shooters were using Alox in their lubes and obtaining it from automotive dealers who offered undercoating on their vehicles. I live in Florida so undercoating a car isn't that much but it was sold under different names and best applied to a new vehicle to prevent salt damage. The journal of the Cast Bullet Assoc. the "Fouling Shot" had a bit of write ups on those using it.
At least that is what I remember on its original source and use. ATB
