Marlin 1894M 22magnum

Post by Goat »

I kinda have an intrest in these as it would allow me to shoot feral hogs on the state wildlife management areas. I know that it may not be ideal for general purpose hog hunting but the Dept of Wildlife and Fisheries says rimfires only.
Besides it would give me an excuse to start looking for another not so common Marlin. Does anyone have any experience with the 1894M good or bad? I wonder how many were made and what year they stopped production? Thanks for you're replies.

Mine has run flawlessly and accurately with everything I've put thru it.

I'm thinking last year of mfg was 1988 with about 12k produced.
...and I don't think he even knows it...Walks around with a half-assed grin...If he feels fear, he don't show it. Just rides into hell and back again.

There happens to be a shooter up on GB right now for about $600.
... I love poetry, long walks on the beach, and poking dead things with a stick.

Even dumber is the swivel stud in the middle of the Marlin bulls-eye.

Replacing a bullseye,... doesn't compare(for me) with removing engravings from the sides of actions.

I had an 1894M when they came out they only made them for two years and I bought one new in the box. My over all was that they could have done better. The front sight was to tall couldn't zero it with open sights untill it was replaced. No matter what ammo used if it wasn't level when you cycled it reliably,it would fte or if it did eject the round it wouldn't feed the next and after 3 trips to the factory and each trip it was "fixed" I finaly gave up and sold it. The best groups was 1.5 at 50 yards with scope.
