Prayers please UPDATE See my last post

Post by rjohns94 »

At 615 this evening, a neighborhood teenager, while on drugs and alcohol, slammed his speeding van into the front of my house. Just seconds before, my son was standing in the foyer which became filled with a car van. The engine was not turned off and burning rubber from the tires filled the house with smoke. The engineer is here bracing walls and filling the gaping hole. The good news is no injuries. It looks like the front of the house and foundation will have to be redone. I prayed with the parents of the youth asking that this be his wake up call and that he can get his help he needs. He has a troubled past. The rest is just stuff. I am so grateful that Ryan is okay.

Wow...Mike, very sorry to hear about the accident tonight, but so thankful no one was hurt. For your son, seconds meant a lifetime. I pray for you, your son, the boy and his family, and those re-building your house. God's Blessings, my friend.

Prayer request -- for Rjohns

Post by alnitak »

I don't know if Mike has posted this yet, but he had quite an experience tomight -- someone drove a car through the front door and into the foyer of his house. There is considerable damage, including the foundation and supporting infrastructure. Fortunately, no one was injured, though his son had been going in and out of the front door loading his car, and had just sat down when it happened. I'm sure he could use a few prayers, both for the family's well-being and the effective repair of his home.

Lousy time of year to have to do and pay for a major home repair. Egads... the security issues.

Here's hoping that the driver's insurance company coughs up a big pile of dough FAST, that all repairs are done quickly and correctly the first time, that the family is not inconvenienced or displaced any longer than absolutely necessary if it comes to that, and that their property and family stays safe.

Prayers are up.

Mike,

I looked at the news pictures. I honestly think that kid aimed for your front door. He flat center punched it.
I'm very glad no one in your home or the kid was hurt.

That is a beautiful house by the way.

Prayers offered up.. I hope the kid driving the auto hears the wake up call from the Lord, heeds HIS voice and turns away from his addictions. Glad your son and family are alright, since it's easier to fix a house then it is a person.

Mike,

After reading and re-reading your post requesting prayer for a young man that has caused you considerable grief, I believe that you are a man I would like to walk with for a while. I can only hope that the opportunity presents itself.

Prayers sent for all.

Re: Prayers please UPDATE

Post by rjohns94 »

Folks,

On the night of the accident, I had the honor to pray for this family, and for this troubled teen. I can't yet grasp what all his parents have been through. The struggle they must be in is beyond what my meager brain can grasp. The estimate on the house damage is a huge number. There are cracks circumnavigating the entire basement wall. The header and king posts were destroyed, and the front two rooms outer walls are bowed in, and the tub/shower UPSTAIRS were displaced as well as the window. Its going to be a long hall in getting the house repaired. But I have made the decision to have my insurance cover the damages. I did this for several reasons. One, he had limited coverage and and though they promised to pay to make it right, I didn't want them to pay out of pocket. My insurance was better. I want them to be able to use thier funds to help their son. I also told them that I would not sue them for any reason and I have promised them that I would appear in court for the defense of their son who was charged. Finally, the father was scheduled for hip replacement today and I will visit him tomorrow in the hospital, and take him some reading material, and the family is getting a dinner delivered to their home on Sunday when he gets home. I have asked to talk with the boy and they are anxious for that to happen. God's grace has been poured abundantly on this situation. WE have received more than we deserved in this in blessings and Grace. It is my hope that through love and Grace sharing to this family, that I might impact them for eternity. This week has a been such a blessing to share with that family and with the workers who have decended on my home. I am at such peace in all this. My son was rescued through Grace from a certain death. The boy walked away without injuries. The family has been blessed and a huge burden lifted off their shoulders.

Please continue your prayers as we minister to their needs, and to the needs of the son and also that instead of jail time, the boy gets the help he so desperately is calling out for. You are a blessing and inspiration to me. I am blessed through your prayers.

Blessings
Mike Johnson,

Agreeing to keep this out of the courts as much as possible is a really refreshing tale. I don't really know any of the parties involved, but this gets me in the Christmas mood. Thanks for seeing beyond the hurt all the way to the help. And may the good come back to you.

Mike,
Someone sure was looking after you and your family. :D While reading the news in your link, it reminded me why I don't watch much news anymore. It depressed me even a bit more.

Mike, I am conflicted in my own mind as to what I would do were I in your shoes. I wonder whether simply getting the young man in question "the help that he needs" is the best path for him.

I am loathe to introduce any young person to the justice system, but I do wonder whether a boy of his mind does not need the wake up call that would provide versus the warm hug and it will be all right honey approach. Young people really do need to learn that there are repercussions for foolish actions.

Your outlook restores a twinkle of hope for the goodness of men.
