Faces !!

Here I am at 11 months old with President Coolidge's wife holding me - 1927 - He was in the Black hills to dedicate Mt Rushmore so G. Borglum could start the carving of faces there - security was a little looser in those days -

If you were a Marine in 1950 (year the Korean War started for young guys here) and they told you this fuzzy faced kid was your Assistant Battalion Surgeon - would that have inspired confidence - or just give you one more reason to try to avoid getting wounded ??

Now that my appearance has matured - I'm too old to work - just shoot at the range at least every week - and enjoy my friends on my deck for happy hour -

They seem to enjoy it -

I didn't have a lot to do with medical when I was in the Corps, but what I've seen, they were top notch. And a corpsman is generally the only non-Marine assigned to run around with us on the ground.

In my experience, my corpsmen and I generally were looked on by my Artillery Battalion as Marines who were just wearing Navy uniforms -

It's been over a half century - and this fact wasn't generally known even then - one of those guys in the then well known picture raising the flag at Iwo Jima was a Navy corpsman - Pharmacist Mate 2nd Class John Bradley. He was awarded the Navy Cross for his part in that action - the Medal Of Honor is the only higher medal !!

OK, I have a link to pics of me on another forum. My bike is purple, and I am wearing a red/white/blue helmet, an orange jersey, and black cycling pants that extend belong the knee. I am a bit shy about wearing lycra in public. There is indeed a pistol in that Safepacker on my belt.

Well I haven't frequented this forum near as much as I would like to have for a while. I just spent an hour going through this thread and really enjoyed it, nice to put faces to everybody. Some really great people here.

Well here is one of me and my girlfriend at her sister's wedding this summer

And since I have lots of pictures of my leverguns and not many with me holding them. Here's on of me shooting gophers with my 39a Mountie. Never mind the goofy look on my face

Hope to be able to spend more time around here.

This was a Trinity River steelie from a trip the Mrs and I took back in Feb. Caught this one on a bass plug smeared with ProCure trout scent....

And here's the Mrs and I on a pheasant hunt a couple of seasons ago. As I recall, we learned that dogs trained to flush Nevada chukar don't do real well flushing pheasant!! We still bagged some birds though....

Hey Nath...nope...that's my trusty ol' Mossberg 500 12gauge. Same one given to me by my dad when I turned 14. Nearly 30 years later and untold thousands of rounds through it and I've only had to replace the tang safety switch once.

I've been given 2 870's in my time, but I sold them both since neither did anything more or anything better than the Mossie.

The one on the right is my oldest, he's a USAF Veteran and now is a contractor supporting the UAV (Predator, Reaper, etc) operations at Creech AFB near Las Vegas. The one in the middle is my youngest, he's a USAF 2Lt, USAFA Graduate, and currently in pilot training.
