OT: Do You Like YOUR Kahr? Keltec?

Got Kahr? Keltec? Tell me about it. Sure is the right size and I need to replace my AirWeight

I'm inclined to go with another J Frame, but I'm willing to listen.........

My wife has a PF9,her carry gun, @500rounds thru it.Zero malfunctions. I have a P11 I carry occasionally, had it for 6 years ,had a few problems at first , then it settled down.I have nothing but good to say about KelTec's. Doug

I used to carry a MK40 its not light you no its there, I'm not sure how much my g19 weighs loaded but for me I cant find a better all around carry gun.

I have experiance with the Kel-Tec 9mm, and 40 S&W. They are fine guns, accurate and dependable.

The only complaint I have , the trigger reset is way too slow.

One of my friends carries the Kel Tec 32 with a pocket clip. According to him, it is weightless and invisible. He can shoot it fairly well out to about 25 feet. It is much lighter and thinner than my NAA 32.

I've had a Glock 36 forever(subcompact .45) I use it when I holster up, but I like dropping that little JFrame in a coat or vest pocket.....

A Kel-Tec P32 is my warm weather/light clothing carry piece, as it weighs next to nothing and disappears in a shirt breast pocket or inside a shorts/swimtrunks waistband with it's carry clip.

I've had zero issues with it, in over 500 rounds since new. Their .380 is only slightly larger and heavier - very slightly.

I own and like semi's but for CC I take the J frame.I absolutely trust it to work if needed.I just picked up a 37-2 in 38 that was a limited run of about 1200 in 2005 that doesn't have the internal lock.

It is a great little carry gun,I'd look for one of them.

I had one of the Kel-Tec P3ATs, it was a good LITTLE gun, emphasis on little. I am a big guy and could really only hold it with my middle finger on the grip and just a touch of my ring finger. If you have medium or smaller hands, it would make a dandy hide out gun. I just use my S&W 642 in a Mitch Rosen El Raton pocket holster now.

I bought a little Kel-Tec 380 last summer. I have never before owned a plastic gun, and I still can't really warm up to them. But, I love this little pistol. I find myself carrying it more than anything else. I am 6'03" and 240 and extra large gloves are tight on my hands, so I too can only get one and a half fingers on the grip, but this doesn't keep me from shooting it. It is quite comfortable to shoot. The sights are next to nothing, but they are there. I do most of my pistol shooting at a 10" steel plate at 25 yards, and I can hit about 50% with it. I'm quite sure that it would be 100% at the 5 or less yards it is designed for. I purchased a pocket holster from Pocket Concealment Systems, and it is a work of art. It took 8 weeks to get, but well worth the wait. All in all, I pretty proud of the little package.

Man I love those Kahrs but I maybe alone. I have an extra one up for sale on gunbroker matte stainless with night sites, extra mag. Good price. It is mint but no ones buying. Can not figure. I like them. 1886.

I have a MK9. not the lightest. shoots very well. I also have the j-frame. Not ready to get rid of the j-frame but the kahr is flatter, adds rounds, reloads faster in my hands. With the right leather, the weight would not be a factor. I find I am carrying it more than the j-frame. In fact I have it right here:

I've had a Kel-Tec P3AT (.380) for a couple of years and it has been a good gun. It is so easy for pocket carry that I frequently forget I have it with me. I have the clip installed, kind of like the clip on a pocket knife. I use the clip to hold it in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster.

I shoot it a little every time I go to the range and qualify with it for concealed carry (HR218). It had a couple of FTF in the first hundred rounds, but after I broke it in it has been trouble free. I've not done anything to it except shoot it and clean it (no "fluff and buff"). I did put some Pachmayr grips on it because the grip is so small. I posted a picture of it in the recent thread about how much ammo do you carry.

It reliably feeds every kind of ammo I put through it (hollow points, round nose, semi-wadcutters.

There have been three iterations of the P3AT. Mine is the third. Kel-Tec seems to do "field testing" with their customers and make improved versions to fix known problems. They will fix or replace any problem guns with their lifetime warranty. In about another year (after they have fixed any bugs) I plan on getting a PF9 (9mm). You can find all the information you need about them on the Kel-Tec owners group forum (KTOG).

In short, I highly recommend it.

I've had a Kahr 40 for better than 10 years now and still have mixed feelings about it. It has always been reliable and fairly easy to carry but......

When I take it to the range and shoot it side by side with my Glock 23 also in .40 S&W, I just shoot the Glock a lot better. I do drills with each doing double and triple taps on a silhouette target at 7 yards and the Glock makes tighter groups just a little faster. Would I carry the Kahr? Yes. I just have more confidence in myself with the Glock.

My everyday carry is an old 40cal Glock M22 trade-in duty gun with fresh nightsights but if it's hot out and I'm in shorts I have a P11 in a pager-pal holster stuffed in my front pocket without the pager. It's light and with the holster it doesn't print. When drawn the holster stays in place.
My wife carries a P32.

I also have one of the Keltsc sub rifles setup for night use. It takes my Glock M-22 Hi-cap mags. Paper plate accurate to 100yds even at night. I am well please with the Keltec products.

I have carried several small off duty guns in the past such as Smith Airweights and baby Glocks. They were ok but I have large hands and I hated my little finger hanging under the grip. Also the Glocks were a little wide and stuck out when wearing just a t-shirt. Recently I had a chance to shoot a friend's Springfield EMP. It's a 1911 frame. What a great little gun. Very slim and grips fit my hands. I shot about 500 roounds through it with no problems. The only problem is they are very pricey. I sold off a glock and a hunting rifle (not a lever

) and ordered one. I gues they're back ordered. Been waiting a month.

Blaine, I've got a Kahr MK40. Used to carry it a lot in a Mitch Rosen IWB holster. Though a bit heavy, it carried well, and shot very well. In my opinion, Kahr makes a very good gun.

PF-9 here also. Great little carry gun, but you do know you are shooting a compact 9mm. I am thinking of getting a KT 380 for a pocket gun though as it is even smaller as you can see. Friend of mine that owns a gun shop likes the 32 real well because of the size but I would prefer a little more power like the 380 offers and it either the same size as the 32 or slightly bigger. I have had no problems with the PF-9 thus far.

Blaine, I have the KelTec P11. Cant say enough good things about it. It holds 10 plus 1 in the factory mags or you can use 12 and 15 round S&W mags. It is the one gun I carry all the time on my farm. It rides in my truck, on my 4 wheeler and in my pants pocket all over the place. I have dropped it and kicked it and abused it. You will be surprised at how accurate it is, not too mention the price. Check out the Keltec website and KTOG forums for all the things you can do to one. As we discuss this I am thinking of buying a couple more to place in special places around my house and barn. You wont go wrong with the Keltec.

Have shot both....own one, the Kahr P40 with night sights. Accurate little gun, lightweight due to the polymer frame, accurate with with the 3.5" barrel, and the widest part of the gun is where I put a Hogue rubber universal grip sleeve on it...the SMALL ONE! It's got a butter smooth trigger and it's never had a malfunction due to the gun since it was broken in about six years ago.

The only problems I have with it are when doing emergency reload drills, the palm of my "loading hand" bumps up against the bottom of my firing hand, making the magazine not quite click into place. I consider this an operator induced malfunction, and I've had a few of those. A plate extension would solve that problem, but would raise the overall height of the gun somewhat. Obviously a different technique is in order for my reloads?

The Kel-Tec? Inexpensive, lightweight, FLAT, accurate...don't like the trigger on it, but with practice that's easily overcome. And you plan on shooting it, right?

I like .40 caliber, although the 9mm Kel-Tec is not a bad gun at all! I don't especially like .380s but the Bersa and Kel-Tec is what I would consider if I ever decided to carry that caliber, with the lean going to Kel-Tec because it's decidedly more compact and lighter than the Bersa...the POINT of carrying a .380, IMHO.

I've never owned either brand. Wilson's Combat did some Kahr's up a while back, don't know if they still work on them. That says something to me.

I've only seen one Keltec in action and I'd of thrown it in the garbage after what I saw. It wouldn't shoot more than two rounds and have problems. Everything from misfeeds to fail to extract, etc.. An LEO was trying to qualify so he could carry it as his BUG.

In some cases the lighter and smaller, the better. That's my opinion of the KelTec 32 auto. If you have not looked at and handled this one give it a try. Drop it in your shirt pocket is right. There's also holsters that fit in your back pocket for this gun. They are made to stay in your pocket when drawing the gun.

I've heard that the most dependable of the 3--32, 380--9mm--is the 32 due to it being their first and more time to de-bug it.

Just give me a tiny last ditch gun I can have on me at all times and not know I'm carrying it or give me a full sized model. The "in-betweens" don't get it with me.

I have an MK9 Elite. Technically it's not been trouble free. A few years ago the slide cracked between the barrel hole and the guide rod hole. Kahr said not to worry, but send it back when you want. Even broke it was still 100% reliable. Kahr fixed it at no cost, and I had it back in a week.

It's VERY accurate for such a small gun. I've never had a malfunction.

It's not a light weight, but I forget about it when it's IWB.

If I were able to carry concealed more often I would definitely look into the P series polymer framed guns.

Another vote for the Kel-Tec .32. It is light and reliable, hiding very easily.

Mine is, for me, a seven yard gun. That's where it shoots to POA. My .38 Smith Airweight Bodyguard has done good work at 100 yards (not bad for a 2" snub) and I like it better, but the little K-T hides better.

One thing to think of is I know the KelTec has a lifetime warranty and a good customer service reputation. The Kahr is a 5 year warranty thereafter....

"Non-warranty service will be billed at $65/hour + cost of parts + $25 shipping and handling. There is a minimum $60 charge + shipping and handling."

so far the kel-tec .32 goes bang everytime i pull the trigger. sure a .500 s&w is going to do a lot better, but try carrying conceiled day after day. 7 rounds to the head will take care of all your problems.

I've had a Kel-Tec P11 for several years now and While I'm not a big semi-auto fan (.45 SAA's ALWAYS work

) I can't find any fault with the P11's reliability. I've abused mine shamelessly and although it's missing some finish on the slide it still works fine.
