new Henry on the way!

Post by Merle »

greetings,

I finally broke down and ordered an 18" carbine today.
I'm uncertain how I'll adjust to the "different" method of loading, but I'll give it a chance.
Somehow the 16" didn't appeal - and the 20" were out of stock - must have been an omen! :D
Time to start selecting it's favorite ammo, so this will mean multiple trips to the range.

OH BOY !!!

I have a full size .357 Big Boy all shiny brass and stuff. Really heavy, but dang does it shoot good. I might have to get one of the little iron 16"....

I think you'll cope.

357, a nice choice.

Howdy,
I've latched on to a BB steel .357, .44 mag, .45-70.. All fine rifles, made in America, etc..
I like the front tube loading, YMMV.....
I sometimes wonder if the side loaders aren't an emotional attachment to the old stuff...
Get both, but don't let the front loader interfere with trying a good rifle...
Nothing wrong with either..... IMHO.....

Yep, mostly varmints until I see what I can do with it.
Also will shoot some postal matches to build familiarity....

I just bought the all steel 45-70 18" myself. Are you staying with the factory Sights? I don't care for bead and buckhorn so I'm trying to decide on what sights to install. I thought of just exchangingredients rear sight to a flat top sight. I have a Williams peep and hiviz front on my marlin 357 and it works well.

I haven't yet looked into the options, so I don't really know what is available.
