This is the first knife I made, forged in 1971 I think.

I had worked it too cold and cracked the blade. And later tossed it because I was embarresed about it...,

Sure wish I had that puppy today. It bears a slight family resemblance to a knife in the "which one did they really use" thread.

Nice....I can barely Forge Ahead, let alone knives. I would like to hunt up some old Old Hickory knives and fix them up. There was pretty good carbon steel in those old guys...

yeah the good old days are good days still in our rememories . . . . ,

SE Alaska. daytime temps 60-ish, night time 50-ish. So perfecto and comfortable with the evening fire to cheer me, keep the powder dry, and warm the babies.

Here's a secret the bottards don't know:
