Finally worked up the loads

Post by wvfarrier »

HEAVY 30-30 load!!! superbly accurate.

The load came from an older Lyman manual. and was provides to me by a member here. Im about 1.5 grains under max using 3031. the charge i settled on was 26.5 grains of IMR3031 using winchester primers.

Check these bad boys out.
187 grain hard cast gas checked. Only about 15 on brinell.....so should smoosh really well at these velocities. im getting an average of 1855 fps. Averaging 2.30" groups at 100 yards from standing position with the factory sights (pics soon as i figure out my alternative to photobucket). From an early 80s model winchester. they didnt perform as well from my Marlin but were still suitable groupings for hunting.

I think i may try Unique as well. And seem which performs the best overall.
