Beautiful Antique Marlin on GunBroker

Post by Batman1939 »

There is a very nice custom order Marlin 1881 up for auction on GunBroker. I have nothing to do with this gun, but thought some members might enjoy looking at the ad. Or maybe (?) even placing a bid.

Enjoy-- :)

Gorgeous!
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

Looks like an old gun to me.

It would make a good truck gun if you shortened the barrel. :D

Hacksaw blades are quite cheap.

Lovely rifle, that one, although I'd like it better without engraving.

I agree with a couple of you; it's not the type of gun I would likely buy (assuming I had the money); but it's a pretty ol' thing. Course you could tear the lever and some other "side" parts off and use it for a short fence-post !! :D

But then--would it qualify to be mentioned on the levergun forum?

Personally I'd prefer a non-engraved, non-checkered stock, straight wrist butt though I do appreciated the tang peep sight.
