Rolling ball clock

Post by Pitchy »

This is our latest creation, it`s a clock but I don`t have the numbers on the rails yet.
Do a youtube search on the subject to see them.

Wow, Pitchy! Your talents, skills and ingenuity at making things continues to impress me!

I tell you what...

When the apocalypse comes -- I'm going to Pitchy's!!!

I'll bring plenty of guns & ammo and some food -- and a trailer full of metal scraps so we can make the things needed to survive...

And once our survival is assured -- then we'll make some fun homemade tools and toys!!!

I wish you were my neighbor -- and I'll bet others wish you were theirs too!

Nice work.

Yep, you'd be a pretty cool neighbor to hang around with. I'm sure I'd lear lots of stuff, too.

Here's another interesting clock - from the Children's Museum in Indianapolis. It uses water...!

Thanks AJMD429, that`s a interesting clock too 8)
I ordered some 1/2 inch steel bears for the clock that I hope work better, the marbles are light and hang up once in a while.

That is a very impressive clock!!

Grand machine Pitchy. I called my 7 year old in to watch the video. Almost every day for a month or so he asked me find Sandy Andy for him. He finally asked "How does it know when to dump?" I pointed out the stop at the bottom and told him that triggers the release. He just ran off and hasn't asked for it again.

Thanks Bill and MM. :)

MM the dump is triggered by a over balance , when the racks get full the last marble down it will tip it and dump that rack.
The thing at the bottom is where it picks up a new ball.
It`s a finicky thing, I think the steel balls will improve things, in fact I brought it in from the shop and the wood is drying out which changes things to the point of hang ups.

Maybe your thinking of this wire but it does something else.

Unbelievable skills Pitchy!
So does this make you "Father Time", or a second cousin, or something? :D
Kidding aside, you never fail to impress me, my friend.
Ingenuity is a priceless quality.

Update, I got the 5/8ths steel balls and they work perfect, I`ve run it a few days without a hitch but it does run a little fast which I don`t care about. :D
