The local Sunday paper has article about road kill deer. They listed county by county, total of 6,526 deer picked up as road kill.
I would bet at least another 25% more were never found!
21 counties here in NJ... a bad place to be if you are a deer!

That amount of road kill is staggering, & IMO indicates that the deer population's out of whack due to the lack of predators (two & four footed).

Oh the population is out of whack for sure, way too many people!
The higher road kill rate is in the NW part of the state, where we shoot the majority of the deer. The zone I hunt/live in the average hunting season runs about 6 months, and we kill 10,000 or more a year. Yeah the population is well past the caring capacity!
