2001 Marlin 1894 P
Hello my levergun brethren, I was presented the opportunity to buy a Marlin 1894 P, the ported 44 mag, straight grip. It dates to 2001, so pre-Remington. Does anybody have a good guesstimate on a price? It is in hunted condition a couple buggers in the stock, some wear where it is carried on bottom of the action but over all not bad. I saw one on GB for $1200 NIB and have seen asking prices of 600-800 but just don't know What is real and what is pie in the sky wishfullness. Thanks

.
I sold my 1894P more than 6 years ago for &850, so IMHO if you can find one around that price today, it's be a steal.
They're VERY handy, the short barrel allowing it to be carried in one hand along side the leg, like a handgun.
With the XS LeverScout mount & a 2x pistol scope, it was like shooting a receiver sight with a little magnification.

Re: 2001 Marlin 1894 P
I bought mine right around 2001 or so. Picked it up used (barely) at a show for $250, he was selling off an estate if I remember right. Anyway, it's been my favorite little carbine since then. I had a set of Brockman sights installed shortly after I bought it, the front sight needed a second hole drilled and tapped. Its been part of my group of working guns for so long I doubt I'd part with it but if need be it wouldn't be for less than $1000. Last one I saw for sale was right around that, though now in Ohio we can hunt with straight walled cartridges so the prices of the older Marlins took a jump around here.

I bought one used at a gunshop . Had a scope sling and the original box . OTD for $425 , kept a few years killed a deer or two with it . Then listed it on GB when I started cropping my accumulation and got $750 for just the rifle that was around ten years ago . Duno whether I caught the market right or what !

Shot a ported 357, loud little bugger. Accurate and handy tho. Do have a 44 handgun to go with it! Todd
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

I "had" a Marlin 1894CP also that was the 357 like the 1894P . I bought it new right after they quit making them got the 357 new OTD for about $390 used it a bit and sold it the same time I sold the 1894P and almost TRIPLED my money .3leggedturtle wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2017 1:22 pm Shot a ported 357, loud little bugger.
