When I was stationed at EUSA HQ, we would occasionally need a driver to go to Osan AFB for one reason or another. We would always volunteer for that job just to eat at the OUTSTANDING mess hall they had. One time I got to see and hear an SR-71 take off  The sound was astonishing.

Sounds like the officers are holding up the time honored British(and other European countries)traditions of we are gentlemen, the troops are pigs. Can't let a little thing like a war interfere with our privileges of rank, they(the troops)don't deserve any better than slop where we as officers and gentlemen have to keep all the trappings of our aristocratic class. It may not be so blatant today but it still exists.

The O club might have had better steaks (a big might) but the NCO club had cheaper booze. All in all, I'm glad I was an NCO instead of an officer. We had much more fun.

The best time I had (clubbing, except for the seal event...) when I was In, was when I was simultaneously a Corporal AND an ROTC cadidiot. I could be on post and simply swap collar tabs and hit either the EM or O clubs at will...
