Just saw this on the Ruger site

Post by 2ndovc »

Don't think I've seen it there before but this would make a great little trail/ pack gun. If it's not all that new, forgive me but I was just on there a few days ago. I think anyway.

Eight shot LCRx .22LR.

Forgot to look for the MSRP but will be interesting to see the "street price".

.

That's the LCRX (the "X" signifies the external hammer) - here's a price comparison between the dealers selling them online:

Maybe the X stands for "Xtremely Hard to Hit Anything"...

For one deer season I carried one of those S&W lightweight aluminum/SS barrel liner 22s -- don't recall the model number, but it sure carried really well! But I never could hit a rabbit or partridge with it, as the muzzle wavered all over the place...

Changed to an all steel Ruger SP101 22 that was 2.5X the weight -- and the hits went up dramatically!

For me, anyhow, a little weight in a handgun is a GOOD THING.

It's running a close 2nd place to the Rhino for the Pure Ugly title. I passed up a date with a girl that looked sorta like that grip in high school... my standards haven't fallen over the past 50 years!

I said this when Ruger first introduced these things ... that is the ugliest revolver I've ever seen. It makes the hokey European revolvers look stylish. Glad you guys like them, if they had to depend on me, they go out of business or make a decent looking product.

I agree with others that this is not an attractive gun, but sometimes form simply follows function. For a little light-weight kit gun, this might be just about perfect.

Yep....I got one of the first S&W 317 AirLites that came out.....A superb bellygun, but I can't hit pop cans very far away....The worst double action pull ever, and if you cock it, the hammer is so heavy and stubby it's dangerous to decock....But, I could unload a cyl full of stingers into a torso sized target at SD ranges in a couple seconds....

Good heavens. If you pull that thing out all the critters in the forest are going to die from laughter. As bad as the LCR (Latest Crappy Revolver) is this thing is by far the ugliest gun Ruger has ever produced. The bean counters and lawyers are now confirmed to be in control of a once great company. In other words, Bill isn't spinning in his grave, he's trying to figure a way out to stop the downfall of his company's once great firearms reputation.

I've been shopping for a new .22 DA revolver.

I'm pretty sure that's not it.

But who knows...

I'm thinking I'd rather have the SP101.

OTOH I do like their 9mm moon-clip LCR. For a newbie, it has a female-doable trigger pull, the simplicity of a revolver, and 9mm is a decent cartridge. The full-moon clip reloading helps as far as speed, if more shots are needed.

Same amount of practice with a speed loader and you'll be on an even par. And, old Smith triggers far exceed the quality of anything but a tuned revolver these days.
