Here's a powerpoint that son Bob made to show his employees and coworkers what he did with his Dad and brother over fatthers day weekend. Takes a bit to download, but is a simple pictoral explanation.

Well boys here's the deal. Bob the one that took the pictures and put the ppt together, is also the IT chief and Network security specialist at the major health care provider that pays his wages. Dollars to donuts he's not gonna give his ol dad or anybody else a link to someplace that's going to put buggaboos on your puter. :D

Cool sport. Thanks for the link.

So Please edumicate me on the fine rifle in the picture, and other guns allowed for this type of shooting. Is it black powder propelled brass cased Cartridges?

Looks like fun,

Allen

Allen it is a lot of fun.
The rifle in the most pictures is my C Sharps 1875 chambered in 45-70. The front sight is a Lee Shaver spirit level , and the rear sight is the CSharps deluxe longrange vernier with the hadley eyecup. The 74 sharps shown with Marcus is my Taylors as interpeted by Armi sport. It's front is the Armi Sport sharps, and the rear is a Parts Unknown oldstyle soule sight.
The Quigley and several other like it do allow smokeless powder, and the type of rifles is fairly broad. The main requirement is must be 375 bore or larger, shooting cast bullets. Several folks shoot leverguns, Ruger #1's , handi rifles etc, all of course have some sort of vernier sight on them. The last couple of years they have allowed period type scopes (malcolm) but scoped rifles are not in consideration for the top prize.
Course of fire is 8 rounds at each target all except for the bucket are shot sitting off crosssticks. The bucket (350 yds) is shot offhand.
Lots of fun for the whole family. I know of several families, and a few grandparents that bring the grandkids to shoot.
This year set another registered shooter record at 629.

Thanks Don.

Sounds like I could get into this.....Ruger #3 45-70.... but it is scoped.

Is there a Quigley competiton like CASS or other nationwide events? Our local range has a 1000 yard range I have seen 4-8k guns shoot prone at, maybe I should see what else they have.

Thanks

Allen

Allen theres alot of Quigley style matches around this part of the country. Montana,Nebraska, North Dakota, and Utah all have some.
Best bet is to either keep an eye on the schedules section at bpcr.net or the announcements on the Shiloh board.
