The Marlin is perfectly fine. The 1886 is classier, but weighs more and is hard to scope. I can't imagine a better big bore hunting rifle than a Marlin Guide Gun.

Clean all the copper out of the barrel, check the crown for nicks (you can use a mouse ball and valve grinding compound to smooth the crown) and shoot it. I'll bet it shoots better than you need. Get some jacketed, or gas checked .311s and have a field day...

Does a light dimmer use less electric when you dim the lights, or does the same amount get used and it just gets drained away someplace besides the lightbulb? I have a bet on this one. Nope, ain't gonna say...already looked dumb enough this week :P

This is a pretty decent forum and the moderators do a very good job at being fair. The decision to seperate the political posts from gun related posts was a super idea. For the most part it is the politcal posts that turn nasty. So, if a fellow doesn't want to get his hide pealed then just don't go...
