My vote goes to the 250 Savage, 300 Savage and 358 Winchester for chamberings. Straight grip, rotary magazine and safety by the lever like the originals. With this safety, you can "de-cock" the rifle for storage which is a nice feature. I don't know if you can do that with the top tang saf...

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of hearing. And yours was an 1895 stock which I'm sure is longer than one on a 1894. If a 95 comes up short, there's a really good chance that the 94's going to be really noticeably shorter. I fell that if I have to buy a buttstock, then I'll have to buy a forearm from...

Wow, that Marlin looks outstanding! I figured that slimming down the forearm wouldn't be a problem. The stock is what I was worried about but by the looks of yours, it seems that's not a big deal either. How does it size up for length when you shoulder it? I mean, is it a short fit? In your picture,...

Thank you everyone!!! I'll inquire with all those companies you posted. My original plan a while back was to re-do a Browning 53, but with Browning 92 parts(the ones you really need for a project) impossible to find, the Marlin 1894 was the next logical choice. P.S. And yes, when it's done there wil...

new levergun project needs member input

Hello there all. I'm gonna' pick your brains a little this snowy Friday night in PA with a new project I want to do. It will be on a brand new Marlin Model 1894 and the caliber will be 25-20 or 32-20(the rifle is already in 32-20 so the action requires no work. Here's what the finished product shoul...

I also voted for the 44-40, since it was an original round for the
Model 1873 and was the most common chambering for it.
Not to be a nitpicker...... but didn't Uberti make the 1866 or 1873(or both?)
in 22 WMR back in the 1990's for a while? If so, that would be another caliber for the list.

Try www.westerngunparts.com in Canada. They are supposed to have a lot of Browning parts. They do not have levers or lowertangs for the B92, that much I know. Good luck. There is, or better said WAS, a company that made stocks for a lot of lever and other guns. I forget their name but saw someone el...

"New" source for obsolete Browning gun parts

Recently discovered that Western Gun Parts LTD (in Canada) has Browning parts. Their web address is www.westerngunparts.com. I contacted them for a B92 lever and lowertang but these items are out of stock. At any rate they do have other parts in stock for Brownings. Check 'em out.

Nice article, Jeff. That Freedom Arms Model 97 with the dual cylinder really caught my eye. They are supposed to be built like bank vaults. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Freedom Arms also make a 32-20 cylinder for their 32 H&R revolver?

Rifle Magazine article:"Winchester's Last Three Levergu

Just got my copy of "Rifle" (March 2008 issue) today, and it looks to be a pretty good article by Mike Venturino about the 1892, 1894 and 1895 models. Mike seems to be pretty knowledgeable when it comes to levers and other guns of the Old West. I often wondered if he is "one of us&quo...

I already have two B92's-one in 357 Mag and one in 44 Mag. I was just wanting s/thing a little different so the transformed rifle I'm considering would best resemble a standard looking 92 in an original caliber, the good old 32-20. Sorry, can't tell ya what the bore slugs out at.
