Sounds like the "Demise of the Levergun"--ol' Frank was probably outgunned because he was shooting a underpowered 30-30 Winchester lever action. Too bad---
I'd bet there are still far more lever guns in use today than there are centerfire pump actions.

Bruce Dern in The Cowboys was a guy you could really hate, but I think he's been pretty good in some other roles. He really abused John Wayne and scared the he__ __ out of the kid who dropped his glasses. But he got his just desserts in the end. Really made you want to cheer his demise.

Very nice Model 99 there. What "series" is it? I have a 99e that I bought new in 1965 but even then that model was not known for its beauty--kind of the ugly stepdaughter I guess. Yours is good looking and in a great caliber--from what I hear. Enjoy it.

I recently received a flyer promoting their next big "premiere" auction for Dec 4-6, 2015. If you want to see a load of really beautiful firearms, including over 400 Winchesters (many with levers) and over 750 Colts from well-known collections, you may want to scan their on-line site. Thes...

I own no stock in any trail camera company. I've had 3 such cameras: an early Cuddeback which finally gave up the ghost after thousands (I mean it) of pictures, a Moultrie that is still functioning, and a Stealth which I bought at WalMart for under $100--no tax here in MT. For the money I'm pleased ...

Handirifle, I bet that you'd be amazed at the variety of animals that may be visiting your place. An inexpensive trail cam can really open your eyes about wildlife using your place. I've had 3 over the years and a Stealth cam, which cost less than $100, has captured many bears, grey foxes, deer, elk...

I can't tell from the picture, but that could be a "kinda rare" species of skunk--the hog-nosed skunk. They tend to be found mostly in desert areas and have an extended snout that they use for rooting up larval insects. Looking at the photo again, I suspect that it's not a hog-nosed type. ...
