John,

I had another idea. Check the lever to bolt pin screw. I had a 94 once that would hang up occasionally. We found out that the lever pin screw was too short and the pin would move into the screw hole and hang up.

Loading it part way open likely got things a little askew.
That was my first thought. I've never had that happen before. And then right after that, the jam. If one did not cause the other, then it was a heck of coincidence.

Just got finished cleaning my Marlin 1894CBC. I found lots of grease inside. Some was mine, some was from before I got it. I found considerable kernals of extruded powder, had to be AA5744. Don't have any Kroil, but I have Marvel oil, LSA oil, Penzoil light duty oil. Rem Lube, PCL lube, ummm lets see ......... I've probably forgot some.

At any rate I will clean and lube, and check the loading gate screw.

My Marlin jammed today ....... I guess it was my turn.

I went to the range today and took the 1894 CBC. Shot a nice one hole 5 shot group, then tried to adjust the sights. It's shooting about 3/4" left. Reloaded, fired one shot, then it jammed. The lever was full down, the carrier was free to a certain point, but it would not go all the way down. T...

Not sure I should comment since the only 32-20 single action I've ever fired was an original 7.5" nickeled Colt SAA. Shot really nice too. No recoil to speak of, recoil was nil.

Vall, I went to the range today, and in the on site gun shop I found a bag of Remington ("U" head stamp) copper cased 25RF ammo. They are in nice condition and I didn't see any corrosion. No box either. I counted 48 rounds. Could have miss counted though. Shop owner wants $10.00 for them. ...

Mine is not checkered. I like it that way too.

Winchester used that redish stain on their early rifles, did Marlin use such a stain? You are correct in the buttstock would have to be done at the same time so it would match, and if I get it done I'd like to it look good.

Wood should always be made no larger than the metal it meets. That's what makes the old Marlins, Winchesters, and Savages such finely crafted guns! I totally agree. Winchester had the 1873 first, then the 1892 came out in the same calibers.

Doesn't the safety engage by being pushed from left to right? I've never used a Winchester with the CB safety. But my Marlin engages from left to right.

Just how close are the original Marlin 1894s to the current Marlin 1894s?
Do any or some of the parts interchange?

I know they are twins externally, but it's the insides I'm curious about.

Hanz, Keep soaking it, use some heat and work with the screws. Get it apart. Clean and derust everything. If the chamber and bore and action isn't in bad shape it will work. At least ... that's what I'd do. This gun was made in the same year as me. And for a change, I think I might be in better shap...
