I agree with you Griff. As far as I am concerned PCing is just another option(an option I like a lot but just an option). I let the gun tell me what it likes and depending on what the bullet is being used for.

Old Win is much more of a Winchester man than I am so he is probably correct. Before disassembling the gun try a shot of lubricant at the “hinge point” of the carrier and the sides. Lubricant can do amazing things to old guns. If that doesn’t work I’ll give ya $50 for that old broken tomato stake

We had a beautiful day weather wise, unfortunately I had to drive 3-1/2 hours west to attend the funeral of a hunting buddy’s son. 25 years old and died in a house fire last week. Had a nice service but the whole thing sucked. Good kid too.

My “most valuable” gun is a Wards Hercules. Was originally owned by my Great Grandfather and ultimately passed down to me. No Jack you can’t have it. If anybody REALLY wants it they can try but there WILL be a throw down.

I have had a half dozen 357 and 44’s over the years. As said above good quality and pretty dependable. If you are planning on keeping it may I suggest you find a extra firing pin retaining nut for your model and keep it where you can find it.

Shasta my main smelting set up is a cheap turkey fryer and a harbor freight Dutch oven. If you use the GI can on a turkey fryer then ladle the lead into ingots when your done you can use a GI can as your smelting pot you would be in the whole thing about $50. I use tons of simple green, around the house, in the garage, outside of the house and Roy Dunlap of the American Gunsmithing Institute uses it to clean guns in his Videos.

I hope things work out for you 6pt. I once lived in Maine when my folks were in Florida and THAT seemed a long distance. When I had the VID it was worse than a cold not as bad as the flu. Losing my sense is f smell and taste for 5 days was disconcerting, however.
