Re: Ruger 77 Tang safety- are the accuracy issues really bad
I had an old 77V in 220 Swift that was a real prairie dog killer. Shot well on paper too. I did glass bed it, (I used to do all my bolt guns) and adjust the trigger down pretty fine but I never worried about that angled screw since I knew it would only enhance accuracy by pulling the action against ...

Looks really good. I use vinegar to strip blue and get a slight patina. Sometimes I put something, (like an ejector housing) in my home made browning box to get a little rust on it. It sometimes takes several attempts to get things to match.

In 45-70 and 45-90 I commonly use tufts of Dacron fiber fill to hold small charges of powder to the back of the case. Don't pack it in, just use barely enough to hold the powder in place when pushed in with a pencil. Then load your bullet as normal. I've checked velocities on both loose powder and u...

Lead bullets only and lean it toward you. The bullets will then be redirected into the ground. It's the way we do it in SASS. You are also taking a chance with that starter ring deflecting a bullet who knows where. Buy some steel!

6 x .357 as in a Colt Cobra 38 special. Almost all the time now. I would prefer 9 x .452 but the cocked and locked 1911 is getting a little too heavy for most of the time.
I load the Cobra with 125 grain XTPs and 2400. Ain't tellin' how much.

You can use either jacketed or lead bullets but the lead is much easier on those old barrels. Both of those calibers were what Winchester considered express calibers and are most likely rifled with a rather slow twist so they will not handle heavy bullets. You don't want the punishment they can deli...
