I hope things work out for you 6pt. I once lived in Maine when my folks were in Florida and THAT seemed a long distance. When I had the VID it was worse than a cold not as bad as the flu. Losing my sense is f smell and taste for 5 days was disconcerting, however.

Piller good eye. Many use air soft bb’s in the powder to statically cling the powder to the bullets. Smoke over on castboolits offers them in addition to powder. The key to the plastic mixing container is to ensure it has a 5 cast inside the little recycling logo in the plastic.

I also powder coat most of my cast bullets. I use an RCBS pro and an old Lee 20 pound for pure lead. When I went out this morning I stopped at one f the local gun shops and the first thing that I see is...an 8 pounder of Lil’ gun. I use that in my 458 Socom soooo with 56000 grains added to the 2 pounds I had and using 30 grains per round

Wasn’t the 38-40 smoothbore a custom piece used by trick shooters so they could break objects thrown in the air. IIRC it used a wax and shot “bullet”. I believe Annie Oakley was found to use them and I believe most Wild West show types did.

I have shot several hundred PC lead bullets thorough my 458 Socom AR. No leading no fouling in the gas system but in all honesty not enough of a sample size to say for sure. The general consensus on the internet is that PC lead is good to go in gas systems so it MUST be true.

The coating keeps the barrels very clean to reduce the fouling. I powder coat most of my cast bullets for center fire these days for the same reason. I have ww, pure lead, and range scrap. I tried the art pencils and just wasn’t consistent enough for MY opinion so I broke down and bought a cabine tree hardness tester. Now I know what the hardness of the alloy is.
