Hey Murph, It's not just Air Force cadets (or newly minted officers too), pretty much all young men and women seems to go thru a bit of that. The military does a darned good job of instilling "esprit de corps" in the troops. So, the big head and puffed out chest just come with the package....

If I might add one bit of advice with the estate, make use of professionals, be they lawyers, accountants and so on. It's a complicated business and since most of us do it on very rare ocassions, the pros come in handy.

Or in my case carry freqently. The 30 may be smaller and hold more rounds, but it doesn't have the style and grace that a 1911 has.

I have the laser grip on my 30. Good thing, cuz the sights on that thing are hard for my old eyes. Recoils is actually better than the 36, especially the first rounds Ten 230gr rounds does weigh a bit. I had a TLR 1 on it, but it recently broke. I need to contact the manfac. to see what they can do.

I always wondered what happened to all of those Phantoms.

The AFB I was stationed at in Victorville, Ca, is now a graveyard for commericial aircraft.

There were quite a few more just after 9-11, when the airlines cut way back on flights.

The Rugers are very good. Lots of options, the 22/45 seems pretty popular, but I prefer the more "traditional" regular Mark 3.

Hmm. I wonder if every squadron had a special paint job on at least one Phantom in '76. I was stationed at Torrejon AFB in Spain at the time. We had one with a Bicentennial paint job, though not as good as that one.

On that Singapore SST, shouldn't the nose be dropped during takeoff and landing? Back when they were new, the plan was to have them land at Barajas airport outside of Madrid.
