That 1952 ad with the "Texan" carbines shows them with rounded levers. Mine is later and has a squared one like the OP's. When did Marlin make this change over?

Agreed about pistol grips on lever guns. The only ones I actually don't mind is the Win 65 and Win 71, although if there were a choice between pistol grip or straight stock on either, I'd take the straight one every day of the week.

Someone did that conversion with Marlin 94s. A while back, maybe like 20 yrs ago or so, Shooting TImes or Guns & Ammo had an article about it. Someone here mentioned Gary Reeder's name, it may well have been him.

Same here, it really looks so much better this way. I had mine rebarreled to 25-35 with the barrel being 18". Also slimmed down the forearm by getting rid of the belly and some of the width to be even with the barrel band. Beautiful little carbine and caliber.

Ridered350r, you're correct about the hammer being converted to the "original half-cock style safety notch" (as Turnbull quotes it on their website). Somehow I was always under the impression they used the remainder of Browning 1886 hammers in existence. They must also have to modify the t...
