Re: OT: Differences in Jeep Models
The new Grand Cherokee's are unit body construction. They are not body on frame trucks. You will not be able to make any mods cheaply on them ….if at all. And if you bend the truck off roading, I don't know if you can fix it because it's basically one big welded piece. It makes a great car though. :D

The one I usually go to has been pretty bare lately.....I actually thought they were going to close it down or something. They only keep about half of the guns they used to and I don't think they will buy or trade anymore.

Suffered the last six hours without power. Just came back up. We had a 1/2 inch of ice and supposed to add another inch, so I hope to keep power for a while more. TG for generators.

Seems expensive. I can get Remington and Winchester here for $15 a box at almost any store in town. Might be worth it if it's very accurate.

.22, .357, and 45-70. That's a really versatile outfit. Add a 30-30, and you have everything from bunnies to polar bears covered. And with just four rounds. That can't be, cuz I've got way more than four different calibers, and I don't have it all covered yet :D Kinda like golf clubs.....only fun.....

Re: Leaving a levergun loaded
Modern springs get weak from use. It is called work hardening. A compressed spring is not in use. It is the act of compressing and releasing that wears them out. Just my comments, others mileage may vary. This is what the rule I've always followed. The constant use of load/unload wears the spring o...

Nice, looks like your managing your wildlife well! Not to turn this in to an AG how to but have you been able to propagate the Persimmon’s? I have a tree that fruits well but I can not get any of the seeds to grow. The tree is very old, looks like the original tree died and this came up from a root....

Re: OT: Absolute Cheapskate Way to Start Making Knives
I've never made a knife on my bucket list. But story goes my great grandfather used to have an old portable saw mill. When it quit running he made knives out of the huge saw blades and sold them. My father still has one, and is sure to tell the story every time he see's it.

Re: What is a Winchester 94 in .32 Special worth
I bought this one for $400 a few months a go. It's a war years one, assuming it was one of the last off the line before the change over. It's .32 Winspcl. Ammo cost at least double that of the 30-30, I think that is what keep the price down on the rifles some. But from what I gather it's one of the ...

I agree. I like it alot. Will see it a another time when on the dollar theater.O.S.O.K. wrote:I liked the movie. It was really well done. Acting was great. I'm not going to pick on the condition of the guns - at least they were proper for the time period and such. That's about a 100% score for hollywierd.

I've been recommended a good smith. He wants $110 to clean it up and tell me if it is a safe gun. Does that sound reasonable or should I break out the CLP and do it myself??

Re: New Winchester Model 94 Rifles
They are selling for about a grand at Gandar Mountain here in Indiana. They are nice rifles but for $500 less I'd rather just get the model 92 from Rossi or $700 less buy a good used one from a gun shop.

What is the best way to clean these old rifles up? It's got a hundred years of gunk on it. I was thinking of spraying it down in Kroil or liquid wrench letting it sit a day or two and hitting it very lightly with some 0000 steel wool. That's my standard procedure for older military surplus with rust...

Trade Question
I'm new and getting in to the Winchesters. So here was the deal, I traded the bubba SKS, a new in the box AMD-65 and $200 bucks for the 1965 Model 94 (30WCF) and 1873 Winchester. The model 1873 was made in 1893. So far as I tell the rear sight is broken but otherwise all orginal wood and everything ...
