Re: Marlin JM 2001 336W, 30-30, with “Texan” /straight stock
I really like Trooper Joe's Marlin! Is it just a matter of swapping out the fore grip and stock? I only own one Marlin and it's a Mod30 TK with a Texan stock. I may be picking up a 336 next week and would love to convert it. Any suggestions? I looked on line but keep finding plastic tactical stocks....

I have a Rem 870 because I used one for 30 years in L E. . I bought this mainly for fun..and it is. It's a RIA VR 80. I bought a 25 round drum for it. It is a blast to shoot. It does need hi velocity ammo to cycle properly but recoil on these AR type platforms is much less. Screenshot_20240205_09135...

Wow....thats some Wyoming as F stuff right there! In Sept, I walked into some cows and bulls free ranging on a heavily wooded mountainside while elk hunting. One bull wasn't happy. I had my 45-70 with me. He started coming uphill to me but suddenly turned about 50' away!

I just carry a firearm, knife, and cellphone in my pocket. If I'm carrying my 7 shot S&W 3", then I'll sometimes throw a speedloader in my pocket. If I'm carrying my Sig Xmacro, I don't usually carry a spare. It holds 17×1 which is the same number of rounds I carried on duty with a revolver...

I've put in some miles hiking in some beautiful elk country. I helped a friend pack out a bull, (yay) and saw some cows but couldn't get a clear shot. I took a break and went on an antelope hunt in Pinedale. Got a decent speed goat within 5 minutes!

Maybe you're anticipating the recoil??? I've seen people on the range push the front down a bit expecting the recoil. Especially after the last shot with revolvers or slide locked back on a semi auto.
