Re: CZ550FS
6pt Sika, I have had the M/S in 243 with the DST, butter knife bolt handle etc. It was a nice rifle to look at and definitely a high quality piece. However, I discovered that the rear of the trigger guard would rap the knuckle on my hand making it somewhat less enjoyable to shoot. I do have a CZ550....

Re: Who wants to yak bout my 94 30-30 with me?
I too really like my 1894. Mine is 30-30 also. I hand cast bullets for it, the RCBS 180 grainer, which with lube and gas check is closer to 190 grains the way I cast the bullets. I see you are experimenting with reduced loads in your rifle. I guess the 17 grains of IMR 4227 I shoot through mine woul...

Re: Lever Action Silhouette Rifles and Calibers
I've only shot at one venue, and a quick comparison between their rules and the NRA rules, they are a little bit more lax. One may shoot a lever actioned repeater, or a single shot, so long as it has an exposed hammer and iron sights. I shoot cast bullets exclusively. I shoot a Winder musket in the ...

Oh great. The results from the CAT scan of my chest shows tumors on my lung, on one of my vertebrae, on my inner chest wall, and a tumor in my heart. How do you get a tumor on your heart?
Cripes.

Re: Word of the Day: Metastasis
Thanks fellas. I appreciate the prayers and good wishes. I feel so sick, and so tired, I wish I could go shoot a little bit, but it nauseates me to do so. So much so that when I look at my favorite rifles I want to puke. Seems like a scene from A Clockwork Orange. I will probably sell these treasure...

Word of the Day: Metastasis
Here we go again. Thought I had this stuff licked, 15 years ago, but no. Melanoma is at it again. Started as a suspicious mole on my back which was removed. 4 years later, metastasized to the lymph nodes under my arm. All lymph nodes removed, 1 year chemotherapy. Rough year. Last Friday learned it i...

Re: HK-91 clones on sale at CDNN
My PTR is the only bottom feeder I own. I rarely shoot it. It is an early JLD rifle, with the tight chamber and 10 flutes which does not like most milsurp ammo. Which today is fine as I haven't seen any South African or Radway Green surplus in a decade or so. For me it is a hand loading only proposi...

Re: Do any of you use Paypal?
I've never used PayPal, debit cards or credit cards in my 61 years of living. I use cash and money orders. I will not be part of modernized indentured servitude, which credit cards are. I hear PayPal is very convenient along with credit cards but I just will not subscribe. Although I have worked si...

Re: New Winchester 94 Carbine
Neat rifle. Somewhere on the net, and I am so sorry I don't remember, there was a fellow who served as a game hunter professional guide type. He had compiled statistics on the effect of 30-30 bullets on game. There was a lot of information in his posting. The gist of it was that the 150 Winchester &...

Re: Doing something I dont want to do.
Yes. It is a quandary. I sold off a few of my old 50's British bikes, but kept one that is very dear to me. My son acknowledges that it is "cool" but he's a confirmed cager, with no interest really. I really don't know what will become of it... I hope it doesn't get sold to some "Hips...

Re: 1904 vintage Winchester 1894 rifle finish questions
I would've thought the single shot wasn't legal for Lever Action Silhouette on the face of it. My understanding was that replacement barrels are acceptable if they're of a factory profile. My local club has their rifle caliber shoots on a day that I never seem to be able to make it, as my favored r...

Re: 1904 vintage Winchester 1894 rifle finish questions
Using a tape measure, from the front of the receiver ring to the muzzle, the barrel is approximately 25 ⅜ inches. Kroil is mentioned frequently. I had a can of it years ago, but used it all up and haven't replaced it. I'll go to Ace and see if they have one for sale there. You reckon that's a better...

Re: 1904 vintage Winchester 1894 rifle finish questions
Thanks for the input fellas. Even if all I could remove were those brush strokes, I would feel better about it. I'll try to get the brush strokes with a cotton towel and Hoppes -- the bottle says it might remove stock finishes... If no joy, I'll rethink it a little bit. The rifle has a pretty long o...

1904 vintage Winchester 1894 rifle finish questions
Fellas, I have this 1904 made Winchester rifle, an 1894 model, with a "nickel steel" barrel. I am new to these old rifles. I had some questions, if any of you has any information or suggestions. The barrel is marked nickel steel. I read somewhere I no longer remember that the receivers/fra...

Re: 357mag levergun vs 300 BLK AR15
I guess to each his own. I just don't like the AR15. It is by all accounts a great rifle. A word which has worked itself into the firearms lexicon is "platform." Some guys gnash their teeth when someone presents a magazine and calls it a "clip." Me? Using the word "platform&...

I have so much metal in my body, surgical clips, metal plates, screws, washers. I remember the first MRI after the cancer surgery was a bit disconcerting getting on that table, but it didn't kill me.

Maybe this will help. I had similar issues where for no reason I could tell my computer would lose its wifi connection. I would cycle the router on and off, turn the computer on and off, and it would hook up fairly regular for awhile. I am not sure whether it was the router failing or the computer f...
