Re: 1879: Sandy Hook tests, the .45-70 at two miles

If the bullseye was a couple feet off the ground, you could probably stand six feet in front of it and the bullet would pass over your head on its way to the bullseye. Not unless you're only about 3ft tall.. The bullets do come in at about a 30* angle when the distance gets really long, but at a 10...

Rainbows are pretty. But still, to hit a target with such a rifle at 2,500 yards, you'd have to know the range to the target to something like plus or minus two or three feet.

Something like if you've ever seen the ladder sights for an M1903-- look at the top range settings.

Re: Lever-action Tokarev

I also want to do a 7.62x25 revolver. - John Since this is a tapered round, you may wind up with cases pushing back into the recoil shield and making cylinder rotation difficult as they fire form there and stay like that (the shoulder will prevent them from moving back forward after firing). Wasn't...

Re: 94 as a Trunk Gun?

It has to be a "trunk gun" because it's a Honda sedan. I was using a Mosin 91/30 for the task, but it's kind of long and not as easy to get out of the trunk.

94 as a Trunk Gun?

Anyone have any thoughts on that? And if so, how many rounds to put into the tube? I don't know about the constant pressure of the magazine spring eventually pushing the bullets back into the brass.

What Does This Screw Do?

On a Winchester 94AE:

The manual doesn't mention it. It doesn't seem to hold anything together, at least, not that I can see. It just goes into the side of the receiver.

Anyone know?

Re: Loading Gate on Winchester 94

Thanks for the welcome, folks.

I'd attach a photo, but I imagine that everyone here knows what a 94AE looks like. :)

Re: Loading Gate on Winchester 94

I just picked up a `90s vintage 94AE at a really good price. I couldn't figure out how to top off the magazine, so with a bit of googling, I came here. What I didn't know about was the camming function of the loading gate. (Heck, I'd never shot a `94 until yesterday.) I was able to rub my finger alo...
